ATLANTA SHOWROOM NOW OPEN

June 5, 2009 - Located in the Westside neighborhood of Atlanta, the new Environment showroom will be part of the White Provisions development on 14th and Howell Mill Road. Like New York City's meat packing district, Westside Provisions District gives a nod to Westside's history as Atlanta's stock yard and abattoir center. This urban revitalization project includes a 1910 meatpacking building that elegantly blends historic buildings and new construction. Now home to a true community of retailers and restaurateurs working in harmony with one another, the district defines quality. Environment is proud to be part of it.

TROPICAL FOREST TRUST MEMBERSHIP

Los Angeles, CA   Environment Furniture is proud to announce the company's membership to the Tropical Forest Trust (TFT.) The furniture company had been seeking a suitable organization to support it's on-going effort to use responsibly harvested wood material for it's popular home furnishings collection. The TFT works together with members to eliminate illegal and controversial tropical wood from supply chains and replace it with wood from TFT forest projects and from FSC certified forests.

Environment Furniture is committed to using materials with low environmental impact and responsible processes to create aesthetically sophisticated designs with a true organic quality. This membership is another step in supporting the eco-conscious design philosophy that EFI has built it's reputation on in the marketplace.

Some of the initiatives that will accompany the membership are:

  • TFT approved Product Labeling and in-store TFT membership display.
  • Review process at the source to ensure use of TFT approved wood. Review current wood sources and establish a Chain of Custody (COC) program to secure the wood is only from forests working on a strictly controlled management program with the TFT.
  • TFT works with tropical hard-wood sources that Environment Furniture's operations require and work towards becoming FSC certified, which is the end goal of the TFT and EFI.
  • Annual membership review to evaluate the progress of a company's commitment to the program. Annual review to evaluate progress towards established membership goals.
  • TFT also continues to link forests to Member's supplying factories through robust "Wood Control Systems" that prevent unknown/potentially illegal wood from being introduced into the supply chain.
  • TFT trains and implements their established robust "Wood Control Systems" with member's factories.
  • TFT and Environment Furniture will work on outreach to educate consumers about protecting the world's tropical rain forests and how supporting TFT achieves that goal.
